While I was working at my computer I noticed that the terminal that was connected to one of my amazon EC2 servers displayed the message"
"Broadcast message from root (Thu Nov 28 06:29:26 2007):
The system is going down for system halt NOW!"
but I DIDN'T execute any command at all. Now I cannot login, and I had an important mysql db on the server. I instantiated this server from ami-25b6534c (that doesn't contain db data) and I believe that the instance number was i-3135df58 but't I'm not completely sure. The url was:
http://ec2-67-202-25-63.compute-1.amazonaws.comSo there is no chance to get the information back somehow??
Please HELP.

Suggestion: It would be nice if Amazon could send a quick email to authors of public AMI documents once those documents were reviewed and approved in the public AMI category. That way I wouldn't have to keep hitting reload to see if it's up yet :)
http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/kbcategory.jspa?categoryID=116Question: How extensive is the "quick review" by AWS for these public AMI documents? Is there anything an author can do to make the review process easier?

This is a nebis question, but I was wondering do I use S3 to persist my data after I terminate my instance. When an instance essentially its gone and so is your data. What if you've written data to a database and have create code within that instance its gones. Is there any kind of documentation onlining this issue.
