Getting My Amazon Site Indexed

I’ve got 66,000 page indexed into Google so far, and Google has been nice enough to send me a visitor or two, lol. Really nice when you see a plan finally being executed after waiting for so long. I had a decent sales day the other day, sold over $400 worth of kitchen knives. I think it was a chief because he bought some cooking books too.

It’s great to start seeing my traffic go up each month. My conversion rate is not so bad either 8.24% , for me, I think thats pretty good, but I would like to convert 10% of my traffic. If my pagerank goes up again, then I’d probably get more of a boost in my overall traffic. I’ll blog more later, it’s time for a podcast.

New Shopping Departments

I’ve just added a new hardware store into the web shop. It’s going to have almost anything that Home Depot has, so for all the do it yourself types that hate actually having to drive to the store and wait in the line, you’ll be happy to know that Amazon delivers to your door and that most orders over $25 ship free.

That said, if you insist on wasting gas, and time going to the actual store and catching bird flu while waiting in line with all the strangers, good luck. For the rest of us, you’ve got the amazon web shop.

Getting My AWS Pages Indexed

I’ve been spending some time doing up a little seo to my web shop. It’s been going well, at my last check, I had over 62,800 pages indexed. Not bad for just a few months. I guess I should have more pages indexed, but I’ve been doing my categories in sections. I didn’t want to introduce too much content in one shot.

I’ve just added some new categories, for example the hardware store. It’ll take a little bit of time for those pages to gain some more pagerank, but once it does, watch out Home Depot, lol. I’ll post the progress here again shortly.

Blog Launch of AwsWebShop.com

Welcome to the Official blog of AwsWebShop.com. This blog serves to discuss all things related to Amazon.com.

I enjoy running learning and writing about information technology, with a specific focus on affialiate type marketing programs. I’ll be using this blog share my progress to market my Amazon websites and hopefully share and learn a few different things.

AwsWebShop.com is a fresh new approach in bringing together several different open-source packages to provide a safe and pleaseant online shopping experience. I develop in php and use mysql as a database, running on linux. This is a very stable platform, definately light years ahead of windows in terms of performance, security, and reliablility. The L.A.M.P. platform is also more cost effective then any windows solution I can think of.

I’ll be talking alot about Amazon and web services, so here are a few related books that you might find of interest:

Amazon Web Services Book

I’m sure if you read any of these books you’ll walk away with tons more knowledge about Amazon and webservices. Building an amazon shopping cart can be lots of fun and at the same time put a few dollars in your pocket for all the hard work. The amazon associates program is definately an excellant program to get into if you have a website and want to sell related products.

My name is PuReWebDev, I run an Information Technology Community, and have several other websites related to Google Adsense News and Yahoo YPN News if you’re interested. Subscribe to the rss feed if you’d like to stay current with site changes and this blog.
